About Us
Our Church History
Hayden Enterprise Baptist Church started in 1926 by the traveling of Christians to one another's homes. These homes surrounded the Marble Cliff Quarry, so the church became Marble Cliff Chapel Church. The church was admitted into the Enterprise Baptist Association of Regular Baptists in 1928 with ten members. The church's first pastor was Rev. Willie Castle. The church moved into a building in Hilliard for a short amount of time before they moved by the railroad tracks on Hayden Run road in 1930. The church became Hayden Enterprise Baptist Church in 1949 and the decision was made to build a new church. From then until 1956 there were additions to the church such as a coal furnace and indoor restrooms. In August 1959 the trustees began looking for land to build a new church due to the excessive noise of the trains. The land that the church is currently on was purchased in May of 1961. The congregation moved into the new building in November of 1963. The electricity wasn’t finished yet so service was held with kerosene lamps. The multipurpose building was built in 1964 and has had many additions as time went on. Through the years God has blessed the church and many souls have been saved. Our prayer is that the church will be in God’s will and our pastors will stand on the Bible.
Our Pastor
Pastor Steve Hicks was saved at Hayden Enterprise Baptist Church on January 13th, 1973. He announced his calling into ministry in 1974 at the age of twelve and became ordained in 1983. In October of 1990 Steve married Karen Cook. Steve was pastor at Lilly Chapel from 1983 to 1995. He then became the assistant pastor then pastor of Springfork Baptist Church from 1995 to 2009. He was also the assistant pastor at Amity Baptist church from 2010 to 2012. In 2012 he became the assistant pastor at Hayden Enterprise Baptist Church and became pastor in 2017.
Our Beliefs
Our church believes in one true and living God and Jesus Christ is the Son of God. All Old and New Testament scriptures are inspired by God and should be studied. In our church we recommend and use the King James Version of the Bible. We also believe that by the offense of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation and the free gift came to all men equally by God’s grace. All sinners are justified by His grace received through Jesus Christ. We believe the dead just and unjust will be resurrected and there will be happiness for the righteous and wickedness for the unjust. The church is composed of those who are partakers of the Holy Ghost, tasted the Word of God and the powers to come. We have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ and He is the propitiation for the sins of the world. Only those that have received remission of their sins are fit for baptism by water immersion. The Lord’s supper and foot washing are ordinances of the Lord and should be observed by the Church until the second coming of Christ. The Gospel is the power of God unto salvation to everyone who believes. It is commanded to be preached to every creature and all men are responsible for the manner in which they hear. Lastly, we believe that there is one true Church and every member is an heir of God and Christ. Not one member of the church should ever perish.
